Hanging or beheading. In Pictures

Hanging or beheading. In Pictures  Written by Kaela Street. 20th November 2013

Does your 'right' trump my 'right'?

Abolished in the 20th century, capital punishment was used from the creation of the state in 1707, and in 2004, according to the Wiki on Capital Punishment in the United Kingdom, the European Convention on Human Rights prohibited the restoration of the death penalty for the United Kingdom.

Most British subjects, can define in simple terms, when murdering another human being is wrong. Many people can however, justify why a life should be taken. Not since the last public execution, have people gathered together to witness the beheading or hanging of a person, and sometimes the victim had done no wrong in the eyes of many, simply had the wrong religion or the wrong family allegiance. But we agreed collectively, as a state, that Capital Punishment, the act of taking a life for taking another's life, was fundamentally flawed and morally wrong.

I do not have a care, if you, an unknown person to me, wished to share a picture of an act of murder  to one of your friends. I would ask if you needed to seek help, and I certainly would not want to see it, more especially, I probably would not want my children to see it either. Though I  am well versed in the use of computer searches on the internet, I am willing to bet a 12 year old with intent, could search better than I and if the picture were available on the child's social media site, they would find it simply because they knew they could, and I couldn't. And it is that where my worry lies.

If Mom and Pop un the USA have no regard for their children being given access to images of life being taken, I like to feel we in the United Kingdom are a little better than that. I am not saying the social media site should not allow images of violent life taking, but the wishes of the United Kingdom, or any other civilised country for that matter, should be able to restrict that image from crossing the digital border that separates common sense from the thrill of the gun toting, school children killing countries that host these so called Social Media sites.

My right, to restrict the images my children have access to, should not be trumped by some cash-hungry social networking site in another country, who believes they have a right to publish such images.

Cyclists versus Truckers. Venue: The City.

Cyclists versus Truckers. Venue: The City.Written by Kaela Street,  19th November, 2013

I have had the ability and license to drive just about any vehicle, some pretty darn big, and others, well, a lot lighter and smaller. For example, warehouse work using a fork lift truck, just about as tricky as it gets. The vehicles mass is all behind or underneath you, turns in its own length and has two huge forward pointing blades. You practice navigating narrow aisles with half ton loads until it becomes second nature, then you start doing it while reading a picking list, listening to the foreman barking new orders, other workers calling for help to move things like empties. After a few weeks, your workload increases and your attention becomes tuned to the tasks.

It is like riding a bicycle. Once you get the hang of it. On two wheels you can start doing other things at the same time, answering the phone on the move, daydreaming, watching a scene unfold ahead of you. You seem to seamlessly learn to stay in lane, move around obstacles and keep up speed at the same time. After a while, a cyclist can fall back onto autopilot and the journey unfolds while you think of other things.

I learned to drive heavy good vehicles, the English know them as Lorries, Trucks in the USA. I learned both rigid body and articulated (comprising tractor and trailer). Driving these extremely heavy and often slow to accelerate vehicles becomes second nature,  then your inner autopilot kicks in all too easily. After a while, there are times in the cab when your activity has gaps, so you fill them. I have worked with drivers who were able to make a cup of coffee on the move to be ready to drink when they get to the long line of traffic waiting to get off the motorway, reading maps in my day was no issue for most while on the move, now they have moving electronic maps on iPads, laptops and mobile phones. In my day, the mobile phone was a brick and the only way to use it was hands-free, but the signal dropped out so much, moving conversations were short.

Driving an articulated vehicle through a town meant, if you were any kind of reasonable driver, one hundred percent of your attention in all of your mirrors all of the time. You become acutely aware of your trailer length, your axle weights, the height of your load. You know when you are going to get stuck and make manoeuvres ahead of time so that your trailer wheels don't over ride the kerb, you need to plan so much ahead to make sure that by the time your vehicle arrives at the intersection or junction, you damage neither the vehicle, or the street furniture as you negotiate it. It can become hard work with a very high workload.

Cyclists cannot know what every truck driver is thinking, or how they are planning to make the next turn. Lorry drivers are aware of cyclists, but they know they can turn and accelerate so quickly, it is impossible to second guess where they will be next, that is, if you have seen them at all. It seems to some heavy goods drivers, some cyclists are adept at finding one of your blind spots, and sitting in it. The only way a lorry driver can signal to others what he intends to do, is with a stop light, a turn signal, by his speed, and his vehicle position. Exactly the same as he had forty years ago.

One would have thought, with today's technology, he could be communicating his intentions to every road user around using wi-fi or blue tooth. A cyclist's helmet electronics could be warning the rider, the bus or truck ahead is about to block his way. The cyclists onboard GPS could be warning bus drivers and truckers alike, they are within a few feet of them and could be on an intercept path. It is not rocket science, it is criminal to take another life and not knowing they were there is a sad admission of guilt. "I didn't see him", "I didn't know she was under my wheels" becomes a frightening litany.

Either stop mixing cyclists and heavy vehicles, or force the use of technology to them both to start saving lives. It is no proud boast for our cities to declare how many cyclists were killed over the last year.

Banning Child Porn Search Engine Links will not work.

Banning Child Porn Search Engine Links will not work.

Written by Kaela Street, 18th November 2013

Images of child abuse have been the cause of despair and anguish for so many young people, the grief they have created is  immeasurable. Such a small percentage of the population  need these images to satisfy their inner feelings, such vile images and such vile people. But they are not the only vile people in the world, and somehow, the world needs these people in order to be able to judge those who are less vile.

I fear that banning the links to child pornography and abuse sites will have little or no influence on the trade of misery these vile creature support. I know how a databases work, how an innocuous link can through relationships within the database, create solutions that themselves, do not live in the database. And within Hypertext Mark-up Languages( HTML, the fuel that makes web pages and the links within them), new links with seemingly non-sensible names can link to locations that cannot be found any other way.

I am not even talking about obfuscation, the art of deliberately hiding the true path or link, but standard HTML, standard databases and standard links  can hide, or reveal anything with complete immunity or obvious transparency. It is not even clever.

let us for the sake of argument, suggest that Red Cars are now deemed to be contrary to the normal and should be regulated in order to limit their impact upon society. Phrases such as 'Red Car', or 'RedCar', or even 'Ca rred' can be easily be identified by web transmission and control agencies ( ISP's) to subdue and eliminate any results for 'red cars' or Cars, that are coloured red.

Will that make them go away?

It will send them deeper underground. It is not a huge step of the imagination to believe that people would buy white cars from the market, then in secret, spray them red, and on those few occasions they are let out of the garage, have them wearing a temporary top coat of white, or grey, or black, any colour except red. The owners will giggle with glee knowing they are the only ones who know the car they have with them, is really, Red.

Banning the links to red cars will only make it harder to find, for those people who didn't think about white cars turned red, and then disguised as blue.

Because they are now harder to find, their value will increase, so for those who do not have a need for a red car, but see the opportunity to turn a profit, will buy cars and say, " Underneath, it is red, and you can do what you like and no one will know"

We are not talking about cars though, I mean in the real world. We are talking about vile people destroying people's lives, people so young they have no concept of right or wrong and the term bad, means something scary.

Rather than investing so heavily in trying to obscure these links, the government should be arranging for our forces of law and order, to be finding these sick people, gathering evidence and then incarcerating them for the duration the victims they abused, survive.

Those in the know, those who love to make pictures of little girls and boys in compromising positions, know how to hide their product, and no searching for them will reveal them, you need to be in the know, to know what to look for, and when to look for it, otherwise all you will ever see, is green, blue, white or yellow cars. Start looking for cars with no colour and manufacturers of red spray paint, you get my drift, wink wink.

Time to Create Employment

Time to create employment.
Written by Kaela Street. 6th November 2013
As I have grown a little older, I have had time to reflect on the incredible diversity of history that we as a nation have lived through, but more importantly, worked through. I heard on the radio this morning, the finality of British Shipbuilding is about to impact our southern coastal port. It shocked me. Not because I need the work, as I have been retired from industry, but the country needs the work.

We, as a nation, used ship building, among other skills, to carve a respectful bite from the worlds political landscape, and I am a little proud when I recall the globe in the school room I attended had so many places marked in the colour pink.  Pink was used to denote the land, the country, the commonwealth, was a part of the 'British Influence' that made this nation of ours, the most powerful nation on the planet.

It did not happen by chance, or happy accident, it happened because our kings, queens and parliaments, elected to build ships that were capable of exploring the world, capable of retrieving things from other ships at close quarters, capable of taking our people, including builders, politicians, farmers and smiths, and the military, to establish the British Influence on other places.

In order to do this, whether it was right or wrong to do it is another paper, but in order to achieve the spectacular success of ruling the world, we had to create in our own country, the biggest, strongest, fastest, bravest factory, the likes of which have not been seen, seen since the end of the last great war.

Every ship needed parts, every gun needed parts, every ounce of steel and iron had to be dug from the ground, forged and beaten, transported, machined, assembled and then installed. For every man that worked in the factory of Britain, a family worked as hard raising children, teaching them the skills, looking after the medical needs of young mothers, running the schools and the colleges.

These families needed homes, so we had a nation of builders and labourers. They needed feeding so we grew all the crops we needed and had farms filled with staff employed to grow food. We needed transport, so we built a railway network that was unrivalled. We made the trains that ran on the rails, we employed men to work on the rails and men to control the signals. This country had so many trades it would make your eyes water to try and catalogue them all.

They made us great.

Our government of today buys trains from France and Canada, electricity from Germany, Gas from Poland. We have even given the keys to the Bank of England to someone who is nothing more than a clever tourist. We make little, we employ few skilled people, and we have given our young worked shattered dreams of an industrious future. We pay for crooked politicians to take our money to heat their second homes, while they tell our pensioners to heat just one room if we cannot afford to heat two.

It is time for this absurd topsy-turvy world to end.

We have the coal in the ground, we can mine the best of the ores we need, we can rebuild our own steel works and iron smelters. we can turn our backs on the cheap foreign imports and start creating our own wealth, a wealth that comes from employing our men and women to work in our country making things this country needs.

We need ships, maybe not in the hundreds, although that is not a bad thing, we need skilled men to make the steel, iron, the coal, the wood, the guns, the houses the food we need, and why not. We have the manpower, we have the skills and when we sort out the Government, we will have the ability to make the right decisions again.

We cannot do this if we are being held to ransom, ransom by the energy suppliers, held to ransom by the bankers and get-rich-quick-merchants, held to ransom by the prisoners held in British jails to sit on their backsides and play with their x-boxes all day long. Put there by people who hold high office in the pigs trough stuffing our pound notes into their dirt, greedy, trouser pockets.

We must take control before our homeless die of cold and hunger in the winter, we must take control before the bankers sell anything left of value to their friends in countries we once bought freedom to. We must take control before those who worked all their lives, finally die in obscurity because they cannot afford to heat their room and eat a meal at the same time. We must take back control, before the face of the British Community belongs to a nation and a religion better suited to a another place, a place that brings war and terror to those who oppose their wicked ideals.

Here is how we will do this.

We will nationalise electricity production, gas production and all forms or power generation.

We will close the door to those who come to our country to learn skills and then take whatever they like without a single coin of payment.

We will rebuild our Heath Service, and for those who have wealth, or those who are not entitled, they will pay their way or get nothing, those who work for this country and the people of the country, farming, teaching, mining, labouring, building, creating, hauling, sailing and fighting will make no payment at the point of delivery for the Health Service.

Banking will change, for we have the best and the strongest banks in the world, and we will need them, but the millions of pounds created will no longer fill the pockets of the absurdly wealthy, but will pay the way for our Forces, Soldiers Sailors and Airmen, Firemen, Police Men and Hospital Men and women.

We will need Steel, Coal, Iron, Computers, Railways, Ships and Aeroplanes, we will need all the parts that make them, we will need people to make the parts, and families to support the people who make the parts. We will not need and open door to allow all and sundry to come and go as they please, but we will have control of entry, we will make certain that visitors leave when their pass is expired.

We will welcome every colour skin, every god fearing faith, every expression of gender and every language, we will not welcome a single person that wants something for nothing, that believes they are entitled to something they have no due for and we will not welcome those who seek respect when they have nothing but rhetoric to show for it.

If you work for the betterment of the Country, you will be entitled to a share of the rewards, be that a house or home to live in, a job that pays a wage to buy food and heat the home, a school where skills can be taught, and learned and a hospital where the nurse and doctor can get you back on your feet to go back to work, or a caring hand if your life does not have the ability to work left in it.

We will not make jobs, we will demand parts and labour for our nations skills and Forces, we will give you the tools and places to make the jobs, be they at the factory, in the garage or home, in the collective  yard, you will make the jobs. We will need politicians with sight and ability, we will need inventors, builders and craftsmen, we will need people and as a part of that, we will need support from a government, a government who will be proud to wave the British flag, to celebrate the British Nationality, to build the British Identity and the change must start now.
